Moulding in crown of shell - there is what I assume is a Unicor logo, figures 68 over 88, and M-5. Nothing obvious to indicate model number or anything useful.

Stamping on inside of shell skirt - mostly illegible numerals with two words, HELMET and UNICOR. There's helpful.

This helmet was acquired from NZ with the help of collector Terry Anderson. So far as is known this is the current in-service NZ armed forces helmet.

"A seemingly unusual thing, a ballistic plastic helmet manufactured in New Zealand. Sold on as a display item from a defence show in London (date unknown). Apparently intended for civilian personel rather than armed forces; the seller asserted -

'Full NIJ IIIA protection level - stops 44 Magnum bullet at 444 metres per second, unlike many other helmets that only stop 9mm. Independent lab testing report on this model from world's premier testing laboratory available on request. One size fits all adjustable 4 point inner harness - Shell dimensions: Inner - 26(L)x23(W)x17(H)x76(P)cm, Outer: 28.5(L)x25.5(W)x18.5(H)x83(P)cm. Weight - 1.5kg. Ballistic material - high molecular density PE (polyethylene). Desert Camouflage colour great for many threat environments, especially Middle East and Afghanistan. Highly suitable for embedded journalists, charity personnel and others working in high risk environment.'"
